Functions of Copyright Office Of Tanzania (COSOTA)

As provided for under Section 47 of the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act, No.7 of 1999 (CAP 218 RE 2002).the functions of the Society are as follows:

• To promote and protect the interests of authors, performers, translators, producers of sound recordings, broadcasters, publishers, and, in particular, to collect and distribute any royalties or other remuneration accorded to them in respect of their rights provided for in this Act.
• To maintain registers of works, productions and associations of authors, performers, translators, producers of sound recordings, broadcasters and publishers.
• To search for, identify and publicize the rights of owners and give evidence of the ownership of these where there is a dispute or an infringement.
• To print, publish, issue or circulate any information, report, periodical, books, pamphlet, leaflet or any other material relating to copyright and rights of performers, producers of recordings and broadcasters.
• To advise the Minister on all matters under this Act.

1. 1. Vitabu, vitini na maandishi mengine ikiwa ni pamoja na programu za kompyuta;
   2. Mihadhara, hotuba, mahubiri na kazi nyingine zenye uelekeo huo;
   3. Kazi za drama na zile za muziki wa drama;
   4. Kazi za kimuziki (kwa sauti na ala) zenye kujumuisha au bila kujumuisha Maneno;
   5. Kazi za kikolegrafia na michezo bubu ya kuigiza;
   6. Kazi za upigaji picha za sinema na kazi zingine za vielelezo vya kuona na kusikia;
   7. Kazi za kuchora kwa kutumia rangi, usanifu wa majengo, sanaa ya uchongaji vinyago, sanaa ya uchongaji nakshi, sanaa ya litographia na mapambo;
   8. Kazi za sanaa ya kupiga picha ikiwa ni pamoja na kazi zinazotolewa kwa njia zinazoambatana na upigaji picha;
   9. Kazi za sanaa tumizi, ziwe kazi za mikono au zinazotengenezwa katika viwango vya viwandani; na
   10. Vielelezo, ramani, plan, michoro na kazi za mawanda matatu zinazohusiana na jiographia, topographia, usanifu wa majengo au sayansi.
